GENEVA, Ohio – Ten U23 men’s freestyle champions were crowned on Sunday afternoon as the 2026 U23 Nationals & U20 World Team Trials wrapped up at SPIRE Academy in Geneva, Ohio.

Two-time NCAA All-American Troy Spratley highlighted the champions with Outstanding Wrestler honors. Spratley stormed through the 57 kg bracket with six technical falls over seven matches. He did not allow a point and outscored his opponents 69-0.

In the best-of-three championship series, Spratley secured the U23 title with a pair of 10-0 technical falls against Mack Mauger.

Like in the U20 men’s freestyle division on Friday, the only championship series that went to three bouts was a 125 kg. With two age-group World medalists dueling, Jimmy Mullen pinned Connor Mirasola 44 seconds into the round one contest. However, Mirasola bounced back with a 5-3 decision in round two. He pinned Mullen in the winner-take-all contest to win the championship.

Two-time age-group World medalist Bennett Berge upended his former teammate Brock Fetting in the finals, 9-3 and 6-2, to claim the 86 kg crown. Throughout the weekend, Berge collected seven victories, including his first four by tech fall.

At 79 kg, 2023 U20 World bronze medalist Matthew Singleton put up double digits in all eight of his matches. Singleton teched his way into the best-of-three finals. In his first match against Daschle Lamer, Singleton won 11-0, then notched an 11-5 decision to claim the national title.

Camden McDanel, who also captured bronze at the 2023 U20 World Championships, scored bonus victories in each of his matches en route to the 97 kg crown. After posting a pin just 17 seconds into the first championship series bout, McDanel won the title following a medical forfeit in round two.

2026 NCAA All-American Nicco Ruiz started the final day of action in battle against 2025 NCAA All-American Ethan Stiles. Ruiz won 10-0 over Stiles, then won a 5-4 decision over two-time NCAA All-American Casey Swiderski in the semifinals. For the 74 kg title, Ruiz swept Ryder Downey, 12-4 and 4-3.

Massey Odiotti (61 kg), Noah Tolentino (65 kg), Jordan Williams (70 kg) and Hayden Walters (92 kg) rounded out the U23 Nationals champions.

The 10 U23 division champions are in prime position to represent Team USA at the 2026 U23 World Championships in Las Vegas, Nevada, this October. The U23 World Team spot goes to the U23 national champion unless a higher-ranking, age-eligible Senior National Team member elects to take the roster spot.
