CORALVILLE, Iowa – The U.S. men’s freestyle team turned up six gold medals on Sunday evening to conclude a masterful performance at the 2026 Senior Pan American Championships with the men’s freestyle team title.

Dynamos Ridge Lovett and Wyatt Hendrickson captured first-period pins in the gold medal round, invigorating the Xtream Arena crowd. It was an arm-bar finish in 1:28 for Lovett over Puerto Rico’s Victor Soto Rivera in the 70 kg finals. Hendrickson stopped Canada’s Jorawar Dhinsa in 1:39 at 125 kg, countering a Dhinsa lateral drop attempt to the back for the fall.

2025 World bronze medalist Real Woods re-upped his claim as one of the World’s elite at 65 kg with a 3-2 win over Canada’s Peiman Biabani in the gold medal match. Woods controlled the tenor of the match from start to finish and notched the only takedown of the bout. This was a rematch of the bronze medal match from last year’s Senior Worlds in Zagreb, Croatia, also won by Woods.

Liam Cronin put forth his best international competition to date en route to the 57 kg gold medal. Cronin outlasted 2024 Olympian Darian Cruz of Puerto Rico, 5-4, in a down-to-the-wire final.

2025 World champion Trent Hidlay (92 kg) and 2025 World silver medalist Levi Haines (79 kg) both went 4-0 in round robin brackets during the morning session to clinch gold medals. It was the second-straight Pan American title for Hidlay and the first for Haines.

These six joined men’s freestyle group one champions Austin DeSanto (61 kg) and Zahid Valencia (86 kg), who competed on Saturday, atop the medal stand for Team USA. Valencia was awarded the Golden Boot Award and recognized as the outstanding wrestler of the men’s freestyle division.

The only U.S. loss on the day came in an electric 97 kg final. 2024 Olympian Arturo Silot Torres of Cuba notched three four-point moves to give U.S. Open champion Stephen Buchanan his first official loss in Senior-level international competition. Buchanan earned gold medals at the Henri Deglane Grand Prix and the Zagreb Open Ranking Series earlier this year.

The U.S. was unmatched in the team race, with eight gold medalists and two silver medalists, collecting 240 of a possible 250 team points. Puerto Rico came in a distant second place with 150 team points. Canada rounded out the top three with 129 team points.
