Leslie Beers
Leslie Beers won the 158-pound title at the first NCAA Wrestling Championships in 1928, becoming the first University of Iowa wrestler to win a national title and earn All-American honors.
He was also the first Iowa wrestler to win a Big Ten championship, finishing first in 1926 and 1928 and second in 1927.
The Iowa team captain was a member of United States Olympic team at 1928 Amsterdam Games, becoming the first Olympic wrestler for Iowa.
