John George was involved in all aspects of wrestling, as a coach, official, clinician and as a member and officer of various organizations.

In 10 years at Evergreen Park High School, his teams had a 225-72 dual meet record while winning four conference championships and finishing second 10 times. George coached 11 state place-winners, including two Illinois state champions.
