Eddie Griffin

Eddie Griffin began a 20-year career as a wrestling coach in 1972, at Ardmore High School.

In 1976, he moved to Del City where he coached two years.

He then moved to the college ranks and became the coach at Central Oklahoma University. He led UCO to three NAIA national championships in 1979, 1981 and 1982.

He was named the Rookie College Coach of the Year by Amateur Wrestling news in 1979, and three times was named National Coach of the Year.

He moved east in 1983 to become head coach of Clemson University, earning Atlantic Coach Conference Coach of the Year honors in 1991.

He had a career record of 211-84-4 while coaching 11 individual national champions, 30 NCAA and NAIA All-Americans and 12 ACC champions.

He returned to Oklahoma in 1992 to became athletic director of the Oklahoma City Schools.

Since 2000, he has been the athletic director for Northeastern State University in Tahlequah.
