Ira Lubert received a bachelor's degree in hotel management in 1973 from Penn State.

He attended Penn State on an athletic scholarship, wrestling for the Nittany Lions while achieving his degree.

After graduation, Ira accepted a position with the IBM Corporation in sales and marketing. Over an eight-year span, he became one of the most successful sales and management executives in IBM history. In 1975 he was elected president of the 100% club, signifying the #1 Salesperson out of 4,000 in the United States. In 1976, he was the first to repeat as the #1 Salesperson by winning the "Coveted Eagle Award" in two consecutive years.

From that point on he held management positions in several companies, including ITT, Decision Data and Combined Technologies. In 1986, Ira accepted a position with Safeguard Scientifics, Inc., a New York Stock Exchange firm.. He currently serves as managing director of four separate high technology venture capital funds: Radnor Venture Partners, Technology Leaders, Technology Leaders 11, and Technology Leaders Ill. He provides the funds with a combination of venture capital, management, marketing, and technical expertise.

Ira formerly served as vice president of acquisitions at Safeguard Scientifics, Inc. Prior to that, he served as chairman of the board and president of CompuCom Systems, a microcomputer reseller. He is also president and principal owner of IL Management Inc., a marketing/consulting firm, as well as a principal in Lubert-Adler Partners LP, a real estate opportunity fund limited partnership. Ira oversees the acquisition strategy for GF Management, a company that specializes in the ownership and management of under-performing hospitality properties. He has had a successful history of acquiring properties, commercial real estate and active businesses.

Ira serves on 12 boards of directors and is very much involved in community service work. He is the past chairman of the Southeastern Pennsylvania United Way Campaign as well as a member of Penn State's Library Council, and a past president of the Penn State Abington Board of Advisors.

He was named an Alumni Fellow of Penn State in 1995 and became a Trustee of Penn State University in 1997.
