Ted Czech

Ted Czech coached wrestling at Thorton High School and led his teams to a 138-67-13 dual meet record.

He led his teams to three Illinois state team titles while also finishing second once, third twice and fourth twice. His teams won eight South Suburban Conference championships, seven district championships and seven sectional championships.

Czech coached 15 state champions and 33 state place-winners. Ben Crisler became the second three-time state champion in Illinois history while Herman Ayers and Ken Moore went on to become NAIA champions for Southern Illinois University and Tom Porter and Bill Young were NAIA place-winners. Porter became head wrestling coach at the University of Illinois while Wayne Miller was a national place-winner for the University of Michigan and coach at DeKalb University.

Czech was also a noted official.
