The W.T. Woodson Dynasty.

Paul Labazzetta is a legendary figure in Northern Virginia scholastic wrestling, anchoring the varsity wrestling program at W.T. Woodson High School, in Fairfax County.

He created a wrestling dynasty since taking over the program in 1972, turning the Cavaliers into a state powerhouse. He amassed four district team titles (1979, 1980, 1982, 1989), three regional championships (1982, 1986, 1989), and the ultimate crown—the 1982 Virginia High School League AAA state team championship. Labazzetta led the Cavaliers for an amazing 32 seasons from 1972 to 2004, winning more than 300 matches, and was awarded the Mid-Atlantic Wrestling Coach of the Year in 2004.

Labazzetta is widely recognized within the VA wrestling community for his longevity, competitive success, and contributions to the development of wrestling in the region. He built a competitive program in the Northern VA winning hundreds of dual meets and major tournament appearances. His teams were known for discipline, technical skills and strong showings at major regional tournaments. Labazzetta is someone whose athletes continue to celebrate his influence decades later.

Under his mentorship, he coached 71 individual district champions, 21 regional champions, 78 state tournament qualifiers, and 5 individual state champions. He was recognized as the Virginia High School Coaches Association Coach of the Year in 1982.

In addition to wrestling, Paul also coached the Woodson football team in numerous capacities for 26 years, including three years as head coach.

Labazzetta's legacy at Woodson was permanently cemented in January 2011 when the school formally honored him by officially naming their facilities the Paul Labazzetta Wrestling Room. Following his historic Woodson run, he continued his public education service as a teacher at Battlefield High School.
