James Custer
James Custer coached at Pekin High School from 1943 to 1967.
He led his teams to a runner-up finish at the Illinois High School Association state wrestling tournament in 1960 and fourth-place finishes in 1944 and 1967. His teams won 16 Illini Conference championships, nine M-S Conference championships, 12 Big 12 Conference championships, 11 district championships, eight sectional championships.
Custer coached six Illinois state champions and 31 total state place-winners.
