Lana Hunt-Waddoups

Lana Hunt is the first girl in Blackfoot High School to finish four years of wrestling. In her coach's words, "Lana works as hard if not harder than anyone else in the room. Always gives 100% and is incredibly coach-able." Lana was champion of Idaho's first ever girls only high school wrestling tournament winning the Jaybird Memorial on Feb 10th, 2018. In addition to placing 2nd and 3rd in the District V/VI District Tournament in 2017 and 2018, Lana took 2nd Place at the 2017 Western Regional Junior Girls, 1st place at Western Regional Cadet Girls, and was a USA Idaho Freestyle State Champion in 2017. In addition to her career in HS wrestling, Lana is a member of the Blackfoot HS Cross Country team. Lana assists two elderly citizens with house tasks and respite care. Lana also mentors three middle school wrestlers as well as assists with the middle school team.Lana has been offered an academic scholarship from Rocky Mountain College and a wrestling scholarship from the University of Providence, fulfilling all of the qualities of the Tricia Saunders Award, excellence in wrestling, scholastic achievement, citizenship and community service.
