Jason Bryant

A native of Poquoson, Virginia, Jason Bryant has been a successful broadcaster, announcer and journalist ever since he first started down his professional journey as a freshman in high school. A 1997 graduate of Poquoson High, he gave wrestling a go in high school, but wasn't exactly a natural on the mat, but he was a natural near it, announcing wrestling along with seven other sports.

In college at Old Dominion, Bryant was the sports director for the campus radio station, WODU, and served as a writer and later editor-in-chief for the school's newspaper, the Mace & Crown, and announced home wrestling duals. Bryant paid his way through school with a job at the Daily Press covering wrestling and by announcing tournaments around the region.

Bryant left Virginia in 2005 to work for the National Wrestling Coaches Association, where he became a household name by making InterMat the nation's top wrestling news website. A stint working for J Robinson's Media Sports Productions in Minnesota introduced him to his future wife Abby.

He then worked with USA Wrestling for three years, followed by an 18-month run operating Amateur Wrestling News and then resurrecting Mat Talk Online, a website spawned during his college years as an offshoot of a Hampton-based high school wrestling radio show called Mat Talk and the site that made first made him a regular in Virginia.

Bryant has announced hundreds of events, including the Virginia Duals, college conference championships, high school state championships, the Midlands, World Championships, Olympic Trials and in 2016, the Olympic Games in Rio. The past 22 years, wrestling has taken him to 44 states and 10 countries. He's covered 18 Junior National Championships, 35 national college championships across five divisions, nine World Championships and two Olympic Games.

He resides in New Brighton, Minnesota with his wife Abby and two daughters, Lucy London and Ruby Rio.
