Greg Hatcher
All-around star athlete. All-around successful businessman. All-around humanitarian. Great friend, supporter and benefactor of wrestling. Greg Hatcher has distinguished himself in life through his hard work and the benevolence he has shown for others.A 1983 graduate of Alma College in Michigan, Hatcher won nine varsity letters. He is one of the last athletes to play three sports for four years, and he was named All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association in wrestling for his senior season. He was a member of three Hall of Fame wrestling teams, a member of two Hall of Fame baseball teams, and was part of six MIAA Championship teams; three in wrestling and three in baseball. Hatcher also played soccer for four years.
In 1990, he founded The Hatcher Agency, which quickly became the largest health insurance agency in Arkansas. His desire to be involved in the community and to help others led to the establishment of the Mighty Bluebird Sports Organization, which now has soccer fields, baseball fields and a gymnasium. Its goal is to help kids, who might not otherwise have the opportunity to do so, participate in soccer, basketball, football, wrestling and baseball.
Hatcher founded the Arkansas Wrestling Association (AWA) in 2005 and purchased the mats enabling 60 high schools and four colleges to start new wrestling programs. As a result of his generosity, 4,000 kids now wrestle in Arkansas. For his efforts, he was honored with the Dan Gable America Needs Wrestling Award, named WIN Magazine’s Man of the Year in 2010, and received The Certificate of Merit from the Arkansas Activities Association.
For his incredible commitment to growing the sport of wrestling in Arkansas, Greg Hatcher is honored with the Order of Merit from the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.
