Jose Tapia

Jose Tapia was a five-time New Mexico state champion for Capitol High School in Santa Fe.

He had a career record of 166-4, but never lost on the mat. He forfeited two matches as an eighth grader and two more as a senior when he failed to make weight at a tournament.

Tapia won his first title as an eighth grader at 106 pounds in 2013 and added championships in 2014 and 2015 at 113 pounds. He won his last two titles by fall, capturing the 126-pound title as a junior in 2016 and the 138-pound title as a senior in 2017.
