Larry O'Dell
Digger O'Dell started coaching in 1976 and he is still at it. Beginning as an assistant at Round Valley, he then took a position at Thatcher for a year, prior to a three year stint at Kearny Ray. Digger had a 10 year run at Show Low HS where his teams won 3 Regional titles before taking a State Runner-up trophy in 1990. Then it a move to Pima in 1994, where he retired and then came back to save the program from being cut. He remains the coach to this day. The Rough Riders captured a State Title in 1996 along with 5 more region titles. Digger's team accumulated 22 state individual titles, 60 state placers, and 300 dual wins under his tenure. He has started two high school and two junior high programs, hosted cultural exchanges, tournaments, and camps. Digger served on the AIA legislative council, directed the State Tourney for 9 years and spent 4 years as an official.
