It's hard to believe that Chet Dalgewicz first stepped on a wrestling mat during his junior year at Pennsbury High School (PA), and what was to follow was a legacy deemed anything short of outstanding. Chet proceeded to lose only once during his last and only two years of high school competition, extending his success as a multiple sectional, district, and regional champion who would then qualify for state competition. He was inducted in 2003 into the Pennsbury Hall of Fame for his accomplishments in soccer as well as in wrestling. Chet would then wrestle at East Stroudsburg State College where in 4 years of competition he would lose once in dual meet competition. He advanced his success while at ESSC to be a 2 time PA State College Champion, Middle Atlantic place winner, and ultimately place 5th at the NCAA's in 1966 earning him All-American recognition. All these accomplishments would land him into the ESSC Hall Of Fame in 1988. In 1967-68 he became the head coach at Stroudsburg H.S. where his team secured a conference championship. He left Stroudsburg H.S after one year followed by 22 years as a highly regarded assistant wrestling coach at Princeton University where he collaborated with Hall of Fame coach John Johnston in helping Princeton teams succeed in garnering 9 Ivy League Titles, one EIWA championship, and 321 dual meet victories. While serving at Princeton University as an assistant coach, Chet also assumed administrative leadership in directing 3 NCAA tournaments, two of which were hosted on campus, and the 3rd at the NJ Meadowlands Arena. Chet was also active as a NJ and PA wrestling official, as well as an EIWOA member officiating many college meets, also serving as Past President of the EIWA Coaches Association. In 1991, Chet was appointed Associate Director of Athletics at Rider University, doubling as its Golf coach, and until 2006 he provided his services to student/athletes and the department in the areas of Compliance & Academic Support. Since being retired, Chet has remained active in Delaware Township (NJ) recreation and athletic activities, and he and his lovely wife Winnie reside in Stockton, NJ, and have two children, Thad, and Amy.
