Alfred Bannister

Alfred Bannister finished his career as the winningest high school wrestler in Maryland history with 272 career wins, 201 of those by pin.

Wrestling for Bishop McNamara High School, he became only the fifth wrestler to win four straight Maryland Independent School championships and was a member of The Washington Post All-Met Team.

Bannister was a five-time National High School Coaches Association national champion and six-time finalist, a two-time Beast of the East champion and a two-time National Preps champion.

He was a three-time NCAA qualifier for the University of Maryland and a three-time Big Ten Conference place-winner.

Bannister was a four-time captain for Maryland and finished fourth at the U23 championships.
