Willard L. "Mick" Pickford

Mick Pickford taught and coached for 38 years in the Iowa Public High School System. He has officiated college and university duals and area tournaments at various schools and has carried a FILA rating for more than 10 years working several international tournaments and duals with the Russians and other visiting teams. He also worked as a table official at the Los Angeles Olympic Games. Mick served as an Evaluator of officials at the Division I NCAA Tournament for 7 years.

Pickford was President of the USA Wrestling Officials Association and served on many other wrestling associations’ boards. He has been inducted into the High School and Morningside College Halls of Fame and been named Coach of the Year by High School 3-A, High School Region, National Coaches Association-Iowa High School and Regional High School. He was named USA Wrestling’s Official of the Year and State Chairman of the Year.

• Officiated 39 years at High School level-holding superior rating
• Officiated 27 years in International style wrestling- earned M 1-E rank, the highest level in USA Wrestling Officials Association.
