Shane Young was a three-time Pennsylvania state champion for Penn-Trafford High School with a career record of 153-19.

After going 21-18 and not qualifying for the state tournament as a freshman, Shane went 132-1 the next three seasons and won three consecutive 3A Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association sectional, Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League and state titles in his final three seasons.

He was also a three-time Powerade and Westworld County champion while also winning two King of the Mountain tournaments.
