Three-time Missouri state high school champion for Whitfield School in Creve Coeur, Missouri.

Team placed second at Missouri state championships when he was a sophomore before winning back-to-back state team titles in 2008 and 2009.

As a junior and senior he went 95-0 and captained the wrestling team both years.

Lettered four years in wrestling and two years in soccer. Four-time all-metro, district champion and academic all-state.

In 2009, Missouri Wrestling Association named him Class-1 Wrestler of the Year while Missouri Officials Association and the St. Louis Post-Dispatch both named him Missouri Wrestler of the Year.
