Jeffrey "Peanut" Bowyer

Jeffrey "Peanut" Bowyer, who is president and CEO of JB3 Sports, has a history of impacting lives through wrestling and education for the last 30 years.

His work experience in the educational, nonprofit and corporate world gives him a unique resume and diverse background to provide athletes, coaches and organizations with skills and insight to reach the next level.

Though he began his association with wrestling in Phillipsburg, New Jersey, it was in Virginia that Bowyer began to become an integral part of the wrestling community. As an athlete, coach, volunteer and philanthropist, Bowyer made major impacts at James Madison University, the National Wrestling Coaches Association, the Colonial Athletic Association, the Virginia Intercollegiate State Championship, Brute Wrestling, Rewarding Educational Athletic Choices Helping Each Sport (R.E.A.C.H.E.S.) and Equity in Athletics.

One of the most successful wrestlers in James Madison history, Bowyer holds the career record for season wins with 43 and career wins with 125 and helped the Dukes to two NCAA Eastern Regional team titles. A two-time NCAA Eastern Regional champion and two-time Virginia Intercollegiate state champion, he qualified for the NCAA Division I Championships three times and reached the All-America round as a junior and senior.

Bowyer became head coach at JMU in 1988 and led the Dukes to two Colonial Athletic Association titles and a Virginia Collegiate team state championship. His 112 wins are a school record for wins as a coach. Bowyer was named Colonial Athletic Association Coach of the Year in 1999 and 2000 and NCAA Virginia State Coach of the Year in 1996 and 1999. He was inducted into the James Madison University Athletic Hall of Fame in 2002.

He became the director of operations, coaching education, events and annual giving for the NWCA in 2002. Bowyer helped grow the NWCA from a volunteer-based nonprofit to a leader in the advancement of wrestling by starting new programs, saving threatened ones, and having a proactive approach to making the organization a leader in coaches associations across the nation.

Bowyer became director of sports marketing at The Henson Group in 2007 and was promoted to national sales manager for Brute Wrestling in 2011. He has not ventured far from his dedication to the growth of wrestling and serves as president and on the board of Equity in Athletics and is founder and past executive director of R.E.A.C.H.E.S.

An active member of the NWCA and the PWCA while also serving as a board member for the Philadelphia chapter of Wrestlers in Business, he is a high school mathematics teacher and head wrestling coach at Coatesville High School in Coatesville, Pennsylvania. He resides in Royersford, Pennsylvania, with his wife Jennifer and daughter Jade.
