Bill Elliott
Bill built a dynasty among class 1A wrestling in the state. During his 18 years as head coach at Cashmere, he won five state team titles (1977, 1979, 1980, 1981, and 1982). In addition to that, he place second in 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986; third in 1972; and fourth in 1976 and 1978. Fourteen of Bill's wrestlers have collected 21 individual state champions, including three titles in three different weights from his son, Russ. Coach Elliott is held in high regard and respect by his peers and loved by his wrestlers. Since retiring from coaching wrestling in 1986, and retiring from teaching in 1996, Bill and his wife Donna still live in Cashmere and continue to support wrestling as loyal fans. They have eight grandchildren, and spend a lot of time traveling in support of their grandchildren's sporting activities. For the 2008and 2009 wrestling seasons, Bill and John Durheim (Bill's former assistant and Head Coach at Cashmere and fellow Hall of Fame member) became Co-Head Coaches at Cashmere High School. This was done more by the request of the administration than by volunteering. They were trying to put the zing back into the program. Bill had a great time and enjoyed getting back in the wrestling room and working with the kids. Bill claims it was a great experience and a pick-me-up during his retirement days. His oldest son, Russ, has taken over the coaching this year.
