Gery Gehrmann

Gery Gehrmann Wrestling Official: 39 years Gery Gehrmann has given his time freely to the sport of wrestling for the past 39 years. During this same time he was also an educator for 34 years where he coaches baseball, golf, football and track. Few individuals have given as much time and commitment to wrestling officiating in Washington as Gery Gehrmann. Gery was an outstanding official working state assigned matches at the regional and/or state level for 35 years and was the head official at 25 state tournaments including the first 19 Mat Classic State Championships. Education of officials was the primary focus of Gery's efforts. He was the assigning secretary for the Evergreen Officials Association for 26 years and served the state as one of the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association(WIAA) Wrestling Clinicians putting on rules clinics for 25 years. During this time he also provided leadership on the state level as a member of the Washington Officials Association(WOA) Executive Board where he serves as vice president and president. He was awarded the Washington Officials Association" Meritorious Service Award" for his involvement. Gery has been extremely active in the Clark County Chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame serving as their president. The local chapter has awarded over $156,000 of scholarships to local student athletes under Gery's leadership. He has been recognized with the "Meritorious Service Award" and "Outstanding Chapter Leadership Award" by the National Football Foundation for his leadership and standard of excellence in a life of service to the community. Gery has received numerous awards as a wrestling official. He was selected for the National Federation of High Schools (NFHS) National Wrestling Rules Committee representing section 8 of the NFHS. Gery was recognized with the "Officials Award" by the Washington State Wrestling Coaches Association in 1994, and was names "Wrestling Official of the Yea"r by the Washington Officials Association. In 2008 Gery was inducted into the Washington Officials Association Hall of Fame. Gery and his wife Bobbie reside in Vancouver, Washington. They have two children, Kelly Jennings (50) and Grant Gehrmann (41).
