Coach Joe Gast's teaching and coaching career is an uncommon one. There are very few who have spent almost 40years teaching and coaching at the same institution. Known to most of us as a top notch wrestling coach at EVT high school Joe Gast has also produced outstanding teams in Football and Baseball and has coached Soccer, Cross-Country, and Lacrosse in his spare time.

Perhaps most admirable of all is Joe's reserved, respectful, and professional approach to coaching young people. He has been a role model to thousands. Coach Gast has coached his Eastern Vocational Technical High School wrestlers to 35 individual Baltimore County Championships. 36 State Place finishes, and 5 individual Maryland State Championships. He has been recognized for his Championships recognized for his accomplishments by receiving the MWOA Sportsmanship Award in 1975 and was inducted into the Baltimore County Wrestling Hall of Fame in 1996.

More importantly Coach Joe Gast has been one of those special people who parents want to have taught and coached their children.
