Richard Urano

Richard Urano graduated from Fort Lupton High School and earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from Colorado State University.

He became the wrestling coach at Eaton High School in 1966 and remained in the top position for 40 years.

Urano had a career record of 330-164-10 and led his teams to eight league titles and eight runner-up finishes while also winning four regional championships and finishing second 10 times. He coached 16 state champions, 74 regional champions and had 66 state place-winners. During his stellar career, 244 of his wrestlers were regional place-winners.

He was a multiple coach of the year recipient while also being named Colorado Teacher/Coach of the Year twice. A member of the Colorado High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame, Urano coached the All-State Games in the summer and served several years on the Colorado High School Coaches Association wrestling committee.

Urano was also an assistant football coach for the Reds from 1966-82 and coached youth baseball during the summer.

He now works part-time as a computer repairman.

Urano and his wife, Jeannie, have one son, Michael.
