Dylan Ota

Dylan Ota of Southlake, Texas was a three-time Texas University Interscholastic League state wrestling champion with a career record of 178-19 for Carroll High School and head coach Joseph Hathaway.

The son of Dr. Floyd and Julie Ota, he will continue his wrestling career and major in mechanical engineering at the Colorado School of Mines.

In 2026, Ota was voted Most Outstanding Wrestler at the Texas UIL 6A boys state tournament and was also named the 6A Wrestler of the Year by the Texas High School Wrestling Coaches Association.

He was a two-time All-American in Greco-Roman at Fargo, including a runner-up finish in 2024. Ota was a three-time USA Wrestling Southern Plains Regional finalist in both freestyle and Greco-Roman, winning both freestyle and Greco-Roman in 2024 and Greco-Roman in 2026. He was selected to the USAW Junior Duals all-tournament team in Greco-Roman in 2023 and 2024.

Ota had a cumulative 4.0 GPA and was a member of the National Honor Society while also being named First Team THSWCA Academic All-State in 2026.

He volunteered more than 100 hours of community service while also coaching youth wrestling and working at tournaments.
