Chris Krueger

A standout wrestler at Denver High School, Chris built an impressive career as a coach, teacher, and administrator at his alma mater, leading Denver-Tripoli to sustained success from 2000-2022. His teams won 10 NICL conference titles and an incredible streak of 77 consecutive conference dual wins. This also earned Chris eight NICL Coach of the Year honors in the conference. Chris guided his squads to three Class 2A State Championships, six State Runner up finishes, and a total of 14 team trophies in Class 1A and 2A.

Recognized for his coaching excellence, Chris was named Class 3A Assistant Coach of the Year in 1999 at Charles City and 2A Coach of the Year in 2010 at Denver-Tripoli. In 2014, he received the prestigious Bob Siddens Coaching Excellence Award from the National Wrestling Hall of Fame. His Career coaching record stands at 350-105 having coached 14 state champions, 25 finalists and 60 medalists,including four-time champion Brandon Sorenson, and four-time finalist Dylan Peters and Levi Wolfensperger.

Coach Krueger ran one of the premier youth clubs called Trophy Hunters. He led the 2015 Team Iowa to the Pan Am Games where his teams of Iowans defeated Team Canada in a dual while securing multiple individual Pan Am Medals. Krueger also played a pivotal role in the advancement of girl's wrestling in Iowa. He was named 2025 IWCOA 2A Assistant Girls' Wrestling Coach of the Year at Mason City High School. He works with athletes from all different levels of competition as a Mindset coach.

Currently, he serves as an Associate Principal at Mason City High School. He remains dedicated to education and athletic development. He serves on the rep council for the School Administration of Iowa. He and his wife Jennifer reside in Waverly, Iowa and they are the parents of three adult sons, Creed (Ryleigh), Cael (Brianna), and Camden , and have three grandchildren.
