Chet Bachman

Head coach for 25 years at MFL MarMac, three years as an assistant coach at North Polk, and one year as assistant at Riceville for a total of 29 years. Chet recorded 453 dual meet victories and 88 losses, ranking top 3 in Iowa history for winning percentage. Before Chet took over the MarMac program they had not won a conference championship in 31 years. Since then Chet has won 14 conference tournament titles and 15 dual titles with a record of 62 straight conference dual wins, and coached 90 conference champions.

Chet has coached 65 state qualifiers, five individual champions and 36 place winners. His teams have finished in the top 10 five different times and in 2005 finished 4th, qualifying for state duals in 2019 and was named 1A Coach of the Year.

Coach Bachman served as the IWCOA president from 2005-2009. Coach Bachman also served as USA Iowa coaching staff member for Freestyle and Greco Roman 2005 and 2006 where the Greco Roman Cadet team was National Champions. He also served as coach for the AAU Jr, High National team from 2001-2008. Coach Bachman coached Junior High football from 2003-2024 and was named the Junior High Coach of the Year in 2019.

Coach Bachman graduated from MFL MarMac in 1992, was a 2X state qualifier, played football and baseball and attended Upper Iowa University. Coach Bachman lives in McGregor, Iowa, with his wife Rachel and their three daughters Kaylee, MacKenzie, and Kennedy.
