Ron Hutchinson
A foundational figure in Canadian professional wrestling, Ron Hutchison has left an indelible mark on the industry as both a respected competitor and, more notably, as one of wrestling’s most influential trainers. Based out of Toronto, Ontario, Hutchison’s contributions span decades, shaping the future of professional wrestling through his work inside the ring and behind the scenes.
Hutchison began his career under the tutelage of Sweet Daddy Siki and Johnny Powers at Sully’s Gym before becoming a standout wrestler in his own right throughout Canada and internationally. But it was in his role as a trainer and promoter that Hutchison made his greatest impact. As the head trainer at Sully’s Gym and co-founder of Apocalypse Wrestling Federation, he mentored a generation of talent that would go on to achieve global fame.
Among his most prominent students are WWE Hall of Famers Edge (Adam Copeland), Trish Stratus, and Christian (Jay Reso), as well as other notable names including Gail Kim and Beth Phoenix. Hutchison’s training style emphasized discipline, technical precision, and respect for wrestling’s traditions, producing performers who excelled both athletically and professionally.
Ron Hutchison’s lifelong dedication to professional wrestling—as a wrestler, trainer, promoter, and mentor—has helped preserve the sport’s integrity while propelling it into the future. His induction into the George Tragos/Lou Thesz Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame honors his enduring legacy and the lives he has shaped both in and out of the ring.
