Ed Masood's exceptional contributions to the sport of wrestling in Maryland began in 1965 as an assistant wrestling coach at Montgomery Blair HS and blossomed into a career that spanned five decades. As a wrestling coach in Montgomery County Ed helped to build fledgling programs at Montgomery Blair. Paint Branch, and Richard Montgomery into highly competitive teams and produced quality individual state champions.

In those early years Ed also initiated his career as a wrestling official and wrestling program organizer. He was a co-founder of the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association (MPSSAA) state wrestling tournament and participated for 18 years on the MPSSAA state wrestling committee.

Apparently, not having enough to do Ed expanded his commitment to wrestling officiating and accepted positions as commissioner and committee member for a variety of wrestling officials' associations including The Washington County Wrestling Officials Association, Carlisle Pennsylvania Wrestling Officials Association and he joined the Executive Committee for the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Officials Association.

Ed is most recognized for these extraordinary contributions to the wrestling officiating community. He has served as a wrestling official, committee member, interpreter, commissioner, and coordinator at county, state, and national levels and has participated in events including high school state championships and national collegiate championships.

Ed Masood has been honored with induction into the MPSSAA Wrestling Hall of Fame, the Lock Haven University Wrestling Hall of Fame, the EIOWA Hall of

Fame, and he has received the Maryland State Life Time Service Award. The Maryland wrestling community is proud and honored to have Ed inducted into the

Maryland Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum.
