Chuck Marks

Chuck Marks began his wrestling career at Herman-Norcross High School, where Chuck, along with twin brother Jim and younger brother Mike, were (all three) Pheasant Conference Champions in 1968. Chuck was a District 21 Champion that same year. Chuck went on to wrestle at Fergus Falls Junior College, where he was a National Qualifier at 115#. He enrolled at Moorhead State earning a Social Studies Degree while continuing his wrestling career and cracking Bill Garland’s Moorhead starting line-up as a Junior. Chuck went on to get a Special Education Degree at St. Cloud State and was hired to teach Social Studies and coach Wrestling at Belgrade in the Fall of 1977. After two years as an assistant, Marks took over the head coaching duties at Belgrade and later BBE (Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa), where he garnered 166 wins with 23 State Qualifiers and 11 State Place-winners. Chuck’s teams earned a number of Conference Titles, with a dozen or more of his wrestlers going on to compete at the college level. Chuck retired in 2001 but stepped back into coaching after the tragic loss of Rich Voss, helping out wherever he was needed.

Chuck has been a fixture at both varsity and youth tournaments at BBE and has worked floor security at the State Wrestling Tournament for the past 22 years.

Chuck and his wife, Janet, are retired and live on Calhoun Lake near Spicer, MN.
