Conrad C.D. Mock

Conrad Davis “C.D.” Mock won the 1977 PIAA state title at 126 pounds during his senior season while representing Council Rock High School while compiling a 25-1 record, which was especially impressive considering that Mock did not even start wrestling until the ninth grade.

After enrolling at the University of North Carolina, Mock amassed a career collegiate record of 108-9, was a three-time ACC champion, two-time NCAA All-American and posted a 35-0 record en route to becoming UNC’s first NCAA champion in 1982, winning the 134-pound weight class. That same year, Mock was also awarded the prestigious Patterson Medal as the top athlete at the University of North Carolina.

After returning home to Newtown to coach Council Rock’s High School program from 1990-1998, Mock eventually took the reins at UNC as head wrestling coach in 2003 after a short stint as the Tar Heels’ assistant coach from 2000-2003.

From 2003-2014, Mock’s Tar Heels won 108 dual meets over 12 seasons and won back-to-back ACC titles in 2005 and 2006.

Mock and his wife, Mickie, who still reside in Chapel Hill, N.C., have two adult children: Chelsea and Corey.
