Gavin Ripley
Gavin Ripley was a three-time Class B state champion, two-time All-State champion, and a three-time All-State finalist for Oceanside High School in Rockland, Maine.
He was team captain and Most Valuable Wrestler for three years while capturing the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference championship in 2023 and 2024, when he also was named Outstanding Wrestler, and the South B regional title three times.
Ripley qualified for the New England Wrestling Championships three years in a row, and placed third as a senior in 2024, the highest finish ever by a Maine wrestler.
He was named Varsity Maine Boys Wrestler of the Year and competed in the Maine-Nebraska Wrestling Exchange, a Greco-Roman competition, and at the Junior Nationals in Fargo, North Dakota.
On the football field, Ripley was named to the Big 11 First Team at inside linebacker and to the second team at wide receiver. He was named Oceanside Defensive Player of the Year and served as a team captain. Ripley was named to the KVAC and Big 11 second team as a wide receiver in 2022 and was instrumental in Oceanside reaching the state semifinals.
He also played centerfield and pitched helping Oceanside reach the regional semifinals in 2023.
Ripley was an honor student and received the Oceanside Pride Award.
He volunteered more than 120 hours with pee wee and middle school wrestlers and football players while also volunteering at Babe Ruth baseball tournaments.
Ripely will attend Maine Maritime Academy to wrestle and study maritime engineering systems.
