Sean Ballard

Sean Ballard began wrestling his sophomore year at Palm Bay High School under the expert coaching of Al Steiginga, Trent Taylor, and Perry Balasis. After graduating in 1998, he worked as an assistant wrestling coach for head coach Perry Balasis. Sean was named Head Wrestling Coach for PBHS at the age of 20 after two years as an assistant, and he has coached for the past 23 years. Since then, the program has 438 wins, seven top-five team state championship finishes, 16 county titles, 23 district titles, seven regional titles, and was state runner-up in 2021. He has coached athletes to 98 county titles, 56 state medals, and three state championships.                                                    

Sean has been the State Director for a thriving Florida AAU Wrestling network since 2017, which has the fastest growing AAU wrestling participation in the United States!   Sean has also coached Caylor Williams, a NCAA Division 1 National Qualifier, a two-time US Open Greco National Champion, World Championships U.S. Team Member, and 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Member.                                                                               

Sean graduated from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor's degree in Social Science education and has taught History at his alma mater for 19 years.  He has established a lasting reputation and legacy for his passion and dedication to the sport of wrestling not only at Palm Bay High School but throughout the state.
