William Chesley

William Chesley used the skills and determination he learned from wrestling to go on to become a major success in the world of business. William Chesley grew up in Prince George’s County and completed three years of varsity wrestling with a record of 33-3.

After high school, he became a member and apprentice in Local 602 Steamfitters and Pipefitters Union and began a 5-year apprenticeship. During this time, he also competed on an independent wrestling team wrestling against other independent teams and entered independent AAU sanctioned tournaments, amassing a record of 87-3. Later, he became involved with coaching on the high school level and assisting his former teammate, Doug Jones, with the Kettering Boys Club Wrestling Team. He also coached boys and girls club soccer and played in more than 3,500 soccer games over the past 45 years.

After three years in apprenticeship, he obtained a real estate license. Chesley started his own company, W.F. Chesley Real Estate, Inc., in 1970 and has been running it for 52 years. His business has become one of the most successful diversified real estate companies in Prince George’s and Anne Arundel counties, providing services that include real estate brokerage, land development, commercial and residential construction and management, and private investor financing. His business ventures include residential communities from a few lots to a community of 1,300 residential homes, office buildings and retail.

He has earned numerous awards including Prince George’s County Realtor of the Year and the Prince George’s County Public Service Award and was also named Prince Georgian of the Year for his unselfish dedication to a wide range of community causes and organizations. He was also a founder of the Bowie Health Center.

Chesley has always applied the lessons learned in the sport of wrestling to his business. He mentors, encourages, and coaches his employees and associates to maximize their individual performance so that the Chesley team performs all areas of business as a successful unit.

He is a financial supporter of the University of Maryland wrestling program and the Maryland National Wrestling Coaches Association’s CEO Leadership Academy which has benefited over 1,000

Scholastic Coaches each year and the Optimal Performance Calculator that benefited 230,000 coaches.

Bill Chesley is happily married with four children.
