Rather than head coaching or competing, Brian Taylor built his historic reputation as one of the most prolific and requested mat officials in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Taylor has been a highly sought-after referee for premier, high-stakes tournaments across the country for over 25 years compiling a stellar, multi-decade refereeing career. He has logged 11 trips to Delaware to work the elite Beast of the East tournament, worked 10 Virginia Challenge state-level duals, he’s logged six refereeing appearances at the elite Super 32 Challenge national scouting tournament, and refereed eight times at the prestigious postseason National High School Coaches Association national tournament.

Beyond calling matches on the mat, Taylor scales his impact by building the next generation of referees. He scales his structural impact on youth athletics by serving in senior leadership as the assistant commissioner for his local wrestling officials association. In this role, he oversees regional schedules and directs the hands-on recruitment, training, and evaluation of rookie apprentice referees.

His Lifetime Service to Wrestling award is in recognition of over 25 years of selfless, year-round dedication to maintaining the integrity, speed, and fairness of scholastic tournament sports.
