Charles Miller
Success followed the longtime wrestling coach at both West Valley and East Valley High Schools in the Spokane Valley. He compiled a 280-191-2 dual match record, had 71 state qualifiers, 13 individual state champions and won the inaugural AA State team title in 1972 where all six of his qualifiers placed including thee state champions. One of his wrestlers won the NAIA National Championship, another was a two-time NCAA Placer and three were National Junior College Champions. Chuck Miller, now living in Banning, California, graduated from Washington State University where he was a three-year football letterman. He taught and coached wrestling at West Valley High School from 1961-1982 and spent the final nine years of his teaching career, 1985-1994 at East Valley High School. He was a numerous league Coach of the Year, organized regional high school and freestyle tournaments and hosted Japanese Cultural Exchange teams. Miller was inducted into the Washington State Wrestling Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2002. Miller and his wife Gail have three children, the oldest, Myke, a state champion at then rival East Valley High School in 1978.
