Larry Maguire

Deceased Involved in wresting at three different high schools, (South Kitsap High School; Tenino High School; North Kitsap High School) Maguire began his wrestling coaching career in 1966 and retired in 2003. He was hired to coach football at South Kitsap High School, and surprise, he was also the wrestling coach. During 13 years his teams went 218-37-2 in dual matches, including a string of 91 consecutive victories and nine Olympic League titles. Eight of those teams won sub-regionals and finished second in state in 1974 and third in 1975. He became principal at Tenino High School and helped with the wrestling team between 1980 and 1991 before moving to North Kitsap High School where he coached from 1993 to 2003. He coached 28 state placers and four state champions. Maguire was inducted into the Washington State Wrestling Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1985. The 1959 Central Washington University graduate and his wife Anita have two sons.
