Jim Adamson

Deceased Moses Lake's athletic director for a quarter century, Adamson was instrumental in starting what became the benchmark Washington prep wrestling program. The Chief's won their first of three straight team titles in 1959. Before Adamson's retirement they would win five more in route to a state best 16. Adamson graduated a multi-sport athlete from Chehalis High School in 1940, served from 1943-1946 in World War II and graduated from Central Washington University in 1948 where he played four years of varsity basketball and was president of the Student Government Association. He taught three years in Leavenworth before moving to Moses Lake where he was head football coach and athletic director. He spent 18 year as director of the State A Wrestling Tournament, which he helped plan and start. Adamson was active in numerous associations including the WIAA Wrestling Committee. He and wife Carol married in 1947. They have three sons, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
