Arthur Rutzen
November 18, 1947 - January 20, 2005
At Wells Fargo, the nation's largest investment management bank and one of the world's giant Wall Street powerhouses - with $200 billion under management - Art Rutzen developed one of the world's most successful sales teams around highly visible sports stars from professional football and the United States Olympic team.
Rutzen was a state high school champion wrestler in New York and a varsity success at Lehigh. Representing the New York Athletic Club, he won 15 Freestyle, folkstyle and Greco-Roman tournaments and placed second five times, with three All-America finishes. He helped the NYAC win eight national titles in ten years. In 1971 he won the national trials for the U. S. World team.
He spent five years with Liquid Air Corp., the international industrial gas giant, where his sales efforts earned him national renown. Then, as co-founder and executive vice president of the Security Pacific merchant banking group, he helped build its assets to more than $7 billion.
Rutzen became one of the most sought-after international experts and speakers on investment management and growing the business throughout the world. He is a senior management member of the Lafferty World Private Banking Council.
Rutzen earned his undergraduate and MBA degrees at Lehigh and is a graduate of the Advanced Management Program at Stanford University's Graduate School of Business. He was acclaimed by The Advisory Board, a research group based in Washington, D.C., for establishing the world's best banking sales organization.
He coached under-privileged youth on Long Island for the Police Athletic League, and motivated eight high school students into college with wrestling scholarships.
