Trevon Jenifer leads by example and his team mates push hard to keep up. Last season Huntingtown H.S. 103 Ib. varsity wrestler Trevon Jenifer did everything in practice and meets that his team mates did and a lot more. This does not surprise his family or friends who are familiar with his boundless energy and “can do”' attitude.

For those of us on the outside looking in, Trevon's accomplishments and personality are extraordinary. Do to a congenital birth defect Trevon was born without legs. For him this is just the way things are and he does not consider himself handicapped, and most of the people who know him understand why.

As a first year wrestler last season Trevon competed in 33 matches and won almost half of them, including placing in three tournaments. This would certainly be considered a big success story for any first year wrestler. For Trevon this is just another experience in his long athletic career. He has competed in wheelchair Track and Basketball for more then 10 years. There is little that Trevon doesn't think he can accomplish.

With a years experience under his belt combined with exceptional strength in his hands, arms and upper body there is no reason not to expect even greater things from Trevon in the coming season. Upon graduation from Huntingtown H.S. Trevon hopes to be heading off to college to study criminal justice and/or psychology. He would also like participate in a college sport. With his outstanding work ethic and positive attitude we can anticipate a very successful future for Trevon Jenifer.

For Trevon's incredible ability to strive to succeed to overcome adversity the National Wrestling Hall of Fame, Stillwater, Oklahoma is proud to have Trevon Jenifer in the 2005 induction class as the Medal of Courage Recipient.
