David Moquin
For 40 years Coach Dave Moquin has been at the helm of the Wheaton High School Knights- from 1966-2004. He had a very minimal background of active participation in wrestling from his one season at Frostburg State where he graduated in 1966. However, Coach Moquin did not let that stop him from gaining a tremendous amount of wrestling knowledge through the many clinics, tapes, and matches in which he has been engaged through the years.
He has found a way to pass his knowledge and experience on to literally hundreds of young men, and, in every year since its inception in 1970, Coach Moquin has had at least one wrestler in the Maryland State Tournament. Under his tenure, the Knights of Wheaton High School have won at least 200 dual meets, and probably a whole lot more, and they have produced 37 county champions, more than any of the other 22 schools in the county.
Over the many years that Coach Moquin has been involved in wrestling he has served in many capacities: Match official, Tournament director, and Scorer and Timer at N.C.A.A. tournaments. However, with statistics aside, it has been his sincere dedication to the hundreds of young men, and the influence he has had upon them through either tutoring or mentoring that has provided Coach Moquin with his outstanding success. To honor him for his many successes, the Maryland Public School Athletic Association into its Wrestling hall of Fame in 2003
