Vic Eshpeter

Vic Eshpeter served wrestling in Washington State as a wrestling official for 39 years following a highly successful high school and college wrestling career.

Vic wrestled in the first-ever high school state tournament in Washington in 1953 as a junior at Lincoln High School and won the state championship at 120 pounds. He repeated as a state champion his senior year in 1954 and was named the outstanding wrestler of the tournament.

After graduation from high school, Vic attended Washington State University where he wrestled three years for Hall of Fame coach Dr. William Tomaras.

Vic began his officiating career while still in college and he worked his first state tournament as an official in 1957.

He became a charter member of the Western Washington Wrestling Officials Association in 1957 and remained a member until 1995.

Over his 39-year officiating career that spanned five decades, 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, he officiated in over 25 state tournaments at all levels. He also worked numerous collegiate matches in the Pacific Northwest.

Mr. Eshpeter has been recognized as the 1987 Puget Sound Official of the Year and was presented the WIAA/WOA Meritorious Service Award to the youth of the State of Washington as a Wrestling Official.

Vic and his wife Linda Kellogg, currently resides in Greenwater, Washington and can be frequently found skiing the slopes of Crystal Mountain. Vic has three grown children, Heidi, Lisa, and Jeff
