Frank Treuchet
After serving in the Navy during W.W.II, Treuchet returned to school to complete his secondary education. He entered Springfield College (Mass.) 1950. At Springfield, Treuchet wrestled for Coach Ray Sparks, a member of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame. Coach Sparks taught him the A-Z's of organizational Wrestling. He participated in the initial Wilkes College (PA) Invitational Tournament. He helped also with the U.S. Eastern Regional Olympic Qualifying Tournaments and many A.A.U. and Y.M.C.A. tournaments.
In September 1954, his first teaching assignment was St. Paul's School, Concord, N.H. There he introduced wrestling, coaching the team for five winning seasons. In 1959, Treuchet's new teaching position was at Milford Mill High School, Baltimore County, Md. While at Milford Mill he coached with John Lowe (Legendary founder ofBaltimore County wrestling). He soon learned from John that much of Maryland was in the development stages of high school wrestling.
Treuchet quickly became one of several coaches striving to initiate future growth. In 1973,Treuchet became the Principal of Milford Mill High School. Quoting from the 1982 MPSSAA Hall of Fame article, Mr. Treuchet established himself and his school ,where he helped coach Milford Mill High School. He helped organize the first Baltimore County Wrestling Tournament, directing it for 18 years.
He then expanded his expertise and originated the first District IV Tournament, the forerunner of the current regional tournaments. Treuchet culminated his dream for Maryland to have a state wrestling tournament. This happened as aresult of him being a charter member of the Maryland State Wrestling Committee. He then helped organize the first Maryland State Wrestling Tournament and served as the Director for many years' In 1975,Frank Treuchet was one of the first to be inducted into the Maryland Public Schools Athletic Association State Wrestling Hall of Fame.
He officially retired at the 30 annual Maryland State Wrestling Tournament, culminating 45years of high school, wrestling, 40 of these years in Maryland.
