Ron Belinko has been associated with the Sport of Wrestling for over 44 years. as a participant, college and high school coach, and as athletic administrator. He started and coached the Wrestling Program at Eastern Technical High School. Then during his seven years as coach of Overlea High School Wrestling Program, Overlea won five county championships and a Regional Championship

Overlea also placed 2 twice, 3",and 4* in the State Tournament during this period.

From 1973-1979, Overlea High school produced 22 county champions. 16 regional champions, and 3 state champions. This was during the time that only 8 wrestlers from each weight class qualified for a one classification state tournament.

While serving as Athletic Director at Overlea, Ron directed the MPSSAA State Tournament. As the Director of the MPSSAA Tournament committee, he was instrumental in organizing the present structure of the State Tournament. The MPSSAA Dual Meet Championship was also planned and organized during Ron's tenure as the State Wrestling Committee Director.

Ron was the 1978 recipient of the Maryland Wrestling Officials Association's Outstanding

Contribution to the Sport of Wrestling Award". He also is a member of the MPSSAA Wrestling Hall of Fame. In 2001, the Maryland Wrestling Association recognized Ron for his Longtime Service to Wrestling Award.

Under Ron's leadership as Baltimore County Public Schools' Coordinator of Athletics, all twenty- four high school s sponsored wrestling teams. The Baltimore County Wrestling Tournament continues to be on of the outstanding wrestling events of the season. To further the development of continues to be on of the outstanding wrestling events of the season. To further the development of the young wrestlers, Ron implemented the junior varsity Tournament.

As an Athletic Administrator, Ron continues to contribute to the Sport of Wrestling. One of the issues he has addressed are concerns of weight reduction in the high school wrestlers, and compliance with the current National Federation Rules, A major outcome from all of this is the countywide weight certification program developed and implemented by Ron. He also chaired a committee to implement a statewide weight certification program.
