One of the all-time Western New England College wrestling greats, Bill Simpson earned All-American honors by placing third at 158 pounds at the 1996 NCAA Division III Championships.

He was a two-time New England College Conference Wrestling Association champion, winning at 168 pounds in 1995 and at 158 pounds as a senior in 1996 when he was also voted the tournament's Outstanding Wrestler.

A two-time team captain and team MVP, Simpson was voted into the NECCWA Hall of Fame in 2005.
