Cliff Laughlin

Cliff Laughlin, is a USA Wrestling Gold Level Coach; was on the 1996 Olympic Freestyle Coaching Staff; the 1995 World Championships; 2005 Pan Am Freestyle Coach; USA Wrestling National Coaching Staff; University World Team Coach 2002; Cadet World Team Coach 1990 & 1991; Olympic Sports Festival Coach 1991 & 1993; USA - USSR, Senior Olympic Challenge Coach 1991; 2001 Coach USA team to China and 1998 Coach USA team in Russia. Coach Laughlin was a 2 x first-runner up National Coach of the Year (Wrestling USA Magazine); and 2008, 2000, 1997, 1986 Idaho Wrestling Coach of the Year. In 2000, he was named Idaho Distinguished Coach of the Year. Coach Laughlin was Northwest Coach of the Year 1996-97, North West Coaching Association. In 2003 Cliff was inducted to the National Wrestling Hall of Fame, Idaho Chapter. Coach Laughlin's 1998 Idaho Falls High School Wrestling team finished 4th in the National High School Polls by USA Today Newspaper and Amateur Wrestling News, the highest finish of any wrestling team in the State of Idaho. His 1997 team was ranked 11th in the National High School Polls in USA Today Newspaper and Amateur Wrestling News. Cliff coached at three high schools in his career: 2 years Highland High School, Thornton, CO; 24 years at Idaho Falls High School, Idaho Falls, ID; and 7 years at Mountain View High School, Meridian, Idaho. Throughout his career, Cliff has coached 4 State Champion Teams; several High School AllAmericans; League and District Champion teams and individual champions. One of the accomplishments he is most proud of is having at least one State Champion Wrestler each year of the 33 years he coached.
