Des Moines hosts Board of Governors meeting, Dan Gable Museum Gala on Saturday

The biggest names in wrestling will be in Des Moines, Iowa, on Saturday for the National Wrestling Hall of Fame & Museum Board of Governors annual fall meeting, and the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum Gala.

The Board of Governors will confirm the selection of inductees for the Class of 2016, and will be updated on the progress of the renovation of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

The long-awaited $3.7 million renovation project is scheduled to be completed in time to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Hall of Fame with the induction of the Class of 2016 at Honors Weekend on June 3-4.

America’s shrine to the sport of wrestling, the National Wrestling Hall of Fame & Museum has the largest collection of wrestling artifacts and memorabilia in the world. The renovation will allow visitors to experience interactive exhibits while continuing to see the greatest names of the sport enshrined in the Hall of Honors.

The Dan Gable Museum Gala will be the culmination of a yearlong capital campaign for the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum in Waterloo, Iowa.

The Gala will be held on Saturday at the Holiday Inn Airport in Des Moines, Iowa. Casey’s General Store is the presenting sponsor and Wild Rose Casino and Resort is a corporate sponsor.

Dan Gable, namesake of the museum, will be the featured speaker, and will be joined by Terry Steiner, head coach at USA Wrestling for the women’s national team, and three-time women’s freestyle wrestling world champion Adeline Gray.

Guests scheduled to attend include USA Wrestling Executive Director Rich Bender, National Wrestling Coaches Association Executive Director Mike Moyer, National Wrestling Hall of Fame Executive Director Lee Roy Smith, National Wrestling Hall of Fame members, Olympians, NCAA champions, legendary coaches, and representatives from college programs in Iowa.

The Dan Gable Museum is being transformed into a state-of-the-art museum with an expanded wrestling room and training center as well as updated interactive displays and a new theater.
